Lab Operations Coordinator [ID: 1031]
Position Summary:

Under the leadership of the Dean & Assistant Dean, provides oversight of operations for the College of Nursing (CON) Resource Laboratory. Duties include:

  • collaborating with simulation coordinator and faculty in the development/ implementation of laboratory learning experiences;
  • Coordinating the activities of the skills laboratory including: maintaining an inventory of supplies, equipment, and learning resources;
  • Serving as a resource for information about mannequins, models, and related equipment;
  • Assuring that all equipment is functional; 5) supervising resource personnel;
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA standards of safety rules and regulations; 6) working with students in skills practice, demonstration, simulation and remediation;
  • Covering clinical rotations as necessary at any of our many clinical partnerships across Pinellas county.

Typical Essential Duties:

  • Coordinate and facilitate student-learning opportunities through flexible scheduling of laboratory hours, current professional nursing skills, and virtual laboratory experiences with input from faculty & staff to ensure that lab experiences meet learning outcomes.
  • Assume responsibilities for maintaining equipment in working order, completion of annual inventory of supplies and equipment, submitting requests for lab supplies and/or equipment to designee.
  • Coordinate and maintain classroom and testing schedules for the CON and other areas as needed with faculty, staff and administration.
  • Maintain, update and manage records of acquisition of new supplies, materials, equipment, various surveys, etc.
  • Maintain  physical appearance of lab. Manage room set-up and clean-up from demonstration of clinical procedures and practice.
  • Produce follow-up reports on laboratory activities including an annual report at end of academic year.
  • Conduct tours and simulation sessions for internal/external groups and/or individuals.
  • Collaborate with simulation coordinator in planning, developing and implementing clinically based scenarios for simulation.
  • Work collaboratively with the simulation coordinator to maintain and update the Nursing Resource Commons, orient new faculty, and development of policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.
     
Compensation: $59,309.68 - $74,137.10

Requirements:

Education:

Master’s degree in Nursing.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of relevant experience required.
  • Strong clinical background: 5 years of experience (Fundamentals, Medical-Surgical, Pediatrics, Maternity/OB, Critical Care, Psychiatric, and Pharmacology) preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, planning, and organizational skills; customer-oriented outlook; and creative ability in development and management of learning resources within budgetary constraints.

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of Nursing Education curriculum
  • Using a computer and related software applications;
  • Strong understanding of  simulation in Nursing education
  • Understanding of OSHA standards of safety rules and regulations

Skills:

  • Experience in curricular or technology enhanced instruction;
  • Excellent computer skills, able to use instructional and simulation technology. 
  • Analyzing processes, programs, and procedures and making recommendations for improvement;
  • Coordinating activities and/or programs;
  • Providing customer service;
  • Interpreting and applying applicable standards, laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Preparing and maintaining records and reports;
  • Monitoring budgets;
  • Compiling and maintaining data and information;
  • Communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.
  • Effective management skills
  • Ability to meet challenges of adult learners with diverse backgrounds.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically requires: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

License:

Current, unencumbered Florida RN license
