Position Summary:

Typical Essential Duties

  • Manage the receipt and processing of all admissions applications to non-health related baccalaureate programs, as well as supporting documents, including but not limited to high school/college transcripts, test scores and residency documents. Post transfer coursework as required.
  • Advise prospective students regarding college admission requirements, baccalaureate programs and application procedure through phone calls, emails and face-to-face meetings.
  • Assist students with issues encountered during the application process; monitor progress of applicants toward admission and enrollment.
  • Identify current students in Associate programs qualifying for admission to a baccalaureate program. Facilitate automatic acceptance upon completion of the Associate degree. Manage process to identify and allow qualifying students to register for upper division coursework prior to being fully admitted to baccalaureate program.
  • Work in partnership with Deans, Program Directors and the Curriculum office to annually review and update admissions requirements and recommend revisions to the baccalaureate admissions process.
  • Review and update rules, checklists and communications in college SIS (PeopleSoft) to support baccalaureate admissions process.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Career and Academic Advising Services to develop training for staff regarding the baccalaureate admissions process and requirements.
  • Participate in college recruitment activities facilitating information sessions on baccalaureate admissions and requirements; provide assistance with college-wide and community outreach events as required.
  • Oversees processing and enrollment of incoming/outgoing transient students; may supervise other staff member supporting this process.
  • Serves as liaison to academic departments, attends college-wide articulation meetings, and serves on college-wide committees;
  • Compile data, reports and observations to assess effectiveness of baccalaureate admissions process; provide updates and reports on yield efforts on a regular basis to Deans, Program Directors and the Director.
  • Attends college-wide and professional growth training opportunities.

Incumbents in this class focus on coordinating professional-level support services to students (local, out-of-state, international) and prospective students in single areas or across a number of disciplines that may include admissions, financial aid, academic advising, career services, study abroad, honors college, and disability services. In addition to providing student support services, incumbents are responsible for developing internal and external partnerships to enhance services; conducting program assessment and evaluation to ensure effective delivery of services; making referrals for resources to assist in the students' career and educational success; and serving as a liaison between high schools, students, employers, and the college.  Incumbents in this class perform professional-level student support activities and may have formal supervisory responsibility for program staff.

Compensation: $46,978.82 - $58,723.53

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in related to work in higher education

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience in college admissions, high school/college counseling, or teaching experience are preferred.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
