Director, Workforce Education [ID: 1040]
Position Summary:

The Director of Workforce Education connects SPC short-term education, training and certification opportunities to corporations, non-profit organizations, individual community members, and grant recipients. This position is responsible for increasing enrollment within continuing workforce education, certificate, career certificate, & community-oriented classes, by providing integrative leadership in the development, marketing, sales and operation of courses, classes, and events. This position is responsible for generating revenue by positioning the college to respond to the education and training needs of employers and local organizations. The Director works closely with the Office of Financial Aid as well as with program managers and faculty in clock-hour programs, to ensure an understanding of and adherence to policies and procedures essential to compliance with Title IV regulations. Develops and schedules delivery of appropriate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff. Reports to the Dean of Workforce Development, and exercises considerable initiative, independent judgment, and discretion.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in the development & implementation of non-credit Workforce Education & Continuing Education programing and curriculum;
  • Aid in the objective evaluation of both established and innovative non-credit programs to assess viability and effectiveness;
  • Develop strategies and protocols to achieve non-credit program enrollment goals;
  • Responsible for local, state and federal grant fulfilment, including the monitoring of instructional and financial activities to ensure internal and external compliance;
  • Design, develop, and implement professional development activities in specified content areas for appropriate internal & external stakeholders;

 

The classification is responsible for directing the activities of an assigned academic related department or program. Incumbents will develop strategies to accomplish goals, implement policies and procedures, and develop and monitor an assigned budget. Incumbents may need to perform professional level work within assignment and will supervise employees or student workers.
Compensation: $76,296.54 - $95,370.68

Requirements:

Education:

Master’s degree in a related field to assigned area.*

Experience:

Three (3) years of management experience in Workforce Education. Experience in the development of curriculum/programs, budgets, budget narratives, and project timelines.*

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

  • Workforce Education program requirements;
  • Principles of supervision, organization, and administration;

Provides oversight and directs the implementation of activities and operations for an assigned academic department or program, which includes: planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, student retention, strategic planning, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; implementing overall policy changes; ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards; and coordinating and integrating activities between multiple service areas.

Prepares, reviews, and interprets a variety of applications, agreements, forms, records, needs assessments, business correspondence, and reports; makes recommendations based on findings.
