Brother to Brother Program Manager [ID: 1048]
Position Summary:

The Brother-to Brother Program Manager is a leadership role that coordinates and implements programming and support experiences for African American Male Student Success. In partnership with various college administrators and faculty, the manager is responsible for developing a system to improve African American Male student onboarding engagement, academic success, progression and completion. The Brother-to-Brother program focuses on the academic and career engagement success of our African American Male student population. Incumbent responsibilities generally include providing direct student assistance; ensuring consistency and compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable regulations or guidelines; coordinating services with other departments and outside agencies; developing and evaluation programs and services; coordinating and facilitating special events; and developing marketing and promotion strategies. Incumbents may have formal supervisory responsibility over support and/or technical staff. This position reports to the Executive Director of Retention as part of Student Affairs.

Typical Essential Duties:

  • Oversee African American male program implementation in a campus-based Retention Services Center within Student Affairs;
  • Assume responsibility for recruitment and retention efforts from campus specific supports to districtwide oversight;
  • Hire, manage and schedule regular tutoring in the Brother-to-Brother classroom;
  • Collaborate with staff and faculty to facilitate academic and career enrichment opportunities; may include travel to conferences and professional development training;
  • Collaborate with campus leadership (Provost, Associate Provost, Deans, Associate Deans, etc.) on initiative and activities that support the strategic initiatives and missions of the campus(s);
  • Serve as a student advocate;
  • Hire, manage and train FAAME Coordinators (Student Support Advisors) for Brother-to-Brother;
  • Provide evaluation reports regarding progress in achieving measurable student service outcomes of program quality and student performance;
  • Remain current regarding college policies and procedures;
  • Develop, coordinate and oversee the Summer Bridge and Student Orientation annually for new cohorts;
  • Follows federal, state, college and department guidelines;
  • Define and implement strategic planning activities and program delivery which support academic and career success for African American Male student success;
  • Serve on the African American Male Student Success Taskforce and lead student engagement activities for this Taskforce;
  • Serve as the Keys to Manhood Lead for planning two annual events (middle and high school);
  • Oversee the Cohort of Champions PITCH Program as direct supervisor;
  • Oversee Summer Boot Camp and Summer Bridge programs, and Cecil B. Keene summer STEM  (teach as necessary for max capacity);
  • Oversee the Black, Brown, College Bound supporting efforts as sponsor and student chaperone;
  • Work with grants department to ensure project goals are met and grants are in compliance, and, research and identify alternative funding opportunities to support African American Male Student Success;
  • Work with Grants Accountant and Budget Supervisor on all grant expenditures to obtain necessary approvals, review monthly budget report and ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with Workforce Development to identify accelerated workforce and industry certification tracks leading to direct employment.
Compensation: $55,952.53 - $69,940.66

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field to assigned area.  Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year management experience in the field of underrepresented and/or African American youth/student success programming in the higher education arena.

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
