The Associate Vice President, Information Technology will lead the college’s ongoing commitment to support and promote the strategic use of information technology that advances the overall mission of the College.
This position serves as the principal technology leader for the College providing the vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology strategies and initiatives college-wide. This role requires a necessity for a high level of familiarity with the various constituents and a commitment to meeting the diverse information and communication needs that exist across all college departments.
The AVP, Information Technology is responsible for anticipating and maintaining a vision for the future technology needs at St. Petersburg College, and for recommending strategies, priorities, and projects that will best achieve the college’s strategic goals and objectives.
Responsible for providing leadership, effective strategic planning, and direction of the information technology infrastructure development, administration, technical support, cybersecurity and network systems services. The department of Information Technology includes enterprise systems programming, telecommunications, network systems management, cybersecurity, systems support, disaster recovery), and computer operations.
Plan, direct, and coordinate the development and/or procurement of new systems and current system enhancements to meet SPC business requirements and to support management decision-making aligned with the strategic objectives of the college.
The primary position responsibility is the maximization of the productivity of SPC information systems, IT staff, and SPC business processes, through planning, analysis, project management, and the cultivation of IT customer relationships.
Typical Essential Duties
This classification is responsible for providing complex and senior level direction to the activities of an assigned administrative related department or program. Incumbents work in an administrative related department or function which enables the College to function fiscally, operationally, or administratively. Incumbents will develop strategies to accomplish College-wide goals, implement policies and procedures, and develop and monitor an assigned budget. Incumbents perform management level work for their assigned departments or functions, only performing analysis or professional level work if necessary.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business Administration (the latter with a strong background in Management Information Systems. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Seven (7) years of full-time work experience to include senior-level management, long-term strategic planning, computer systems management, information technology, systems analysis and design, ERP systems implementation and upgrades, end-user support systems, and business intelligence reporting systems in a multi campus college environment is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, to include but not limited to: SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Project.
Be a change agent with positive human relations skills. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with diverse functional areas and stakeholders both internal and external to the College.
