Executive Director, Retention Services [ID: 178]
Position Summary:

Responsible for identifying and coordinating services and activities that will provide the programs within the department the opportunity to better serve program participants, especially individuals who are members of special populations. Assist in promoting the college by coordinating department activities in the community with community-based organizations and local schools.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Oversees and evaluates programs assigned to the Office of Special Programs to identify effectiveness, technical assistance needs and expansion opportunities;
  • Works with project coordinators and staff to identify and develop new methods and techniques to improve student recruitment and retention of each program;
  • Assists in the development of grant proposals to expand existing services and programs as well as to provide new programs;
  • Assists with grant reporting of projects assigned to the Office of Special Programs;
  • Collaborates with various college departments to establish and coordinate efforts of improving student recruitment & retention;
  • Completes program design, contract negotiation, and quarterly and annual reports for youth programs that operate throughout the year and/or summers only;
  • Identifies and coordinates articulation opportunities with the college and the minority community by establishing collaborative efforts with community based organizations and local schools.

This is the first of four levels in the Student Services Management series.  The classification is responsible for providing complex and senior level direction to the activities of an assigned student services related department or program.  Incumbents work in a student services related department or function which enables the College to provide assistance and support to all students related to the enrollment, registration, and advising services.  Incumbents will develop strategies to accomplish College-wide goals, implement policies and procedures, and develop and monitor an assigned budget.  Incumbents perform management level work for their assigned departments or functions, only performing analysis or professional level work if necessary.

Compensation: $100,009.21 - $125,011.51

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field to assigned area.

Experience:

Five (5) years successful in coordination of programs at the post-secondary level in addition to five (5) years experience in coordinating activities within the minority community.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  •  Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Directs and  the internal operations and controls for student service programs, which includes: planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, and/or standards; ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, standards, and College-wide goals, policies and procedures.

Directs and participates in the preparation of departmental budgets, financial reports, and financial aid/governmental loan budgets; monitors revenues and expenditures.
