Responsible for the preparation and integrity of all general accounting records and related financial reports. Ensures that appropriate internal controls are maintained. Supervises Accounting Office, including Accounts Payable, Restricted Accounting, and Internal Compliance. Performs responsible, advanced, and complex work in supervising a major operating section.
Typical Essential Duties
The classification is responsible for directing the activities and staff of two or more accounting functions, such as budget, purchasing, asset management, payroll, accounting, financial reporting, student accounting, grant reporting and/or financial compliance. Responsibilities may include coordinating preparation and responses to external audits; analyzing financial data and making recommendations regarding business processes; evaluating and monitoring financial reports; investigating violations of accounting policies and procedures; coordinating and preparing budgets; and supervising lower level accounting staff.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or in a related field to assigned area.
Experience:
Ten (10) years related experience in responsible administrative or accounting position, including two (2) years supervisory experience.
