International Program Director [ID: 208]
Position Summary:

Directs Study Abroad; International Initiatives; International Student Services. Responsible for energetically sharing and creating a vision to internationalize SPC and foster the staffs’ and students’ global perspectives. 

Typical Essential Duties

  • Develops, promotes and directs International Studies programs, initiatives and International Student Services, including but not limited to economic development, professional training, reciprocal agreements, study abroad, student exchanges, international student internships, sister college relationships, and faculty exchanges;
  • Seeks out partnerships and negotiates articulation agreements as appropriate;
  • Coordinates with appropriate offices and agencies to plan visits for International delegations;
  • Oversees and directs International Students visitor program, faculty exchanges, Fulbright Scholarships, and student exchanges.

This is the fifth of six levels in the Student Support Professional series.  The classification is responsible for directing the activities of an assigned oversight of a student services unit or program.  Incumbents coordinate the activities of the area which includes supervision of staff; providing technical direction; resolving complaints/problems; ensuring compliance with regulatory and policy requirements;  recommending improvements for service delivery and operating procedures; keeping abreast of current trends and practices; and assessing resource needs.  Incumbents will develop strategies to accomplish goals, implement policies and procedures, and develop and monitor an assigned budget.  Incumbents may need to perform professional level work within assignment and may supervise employees or student workers.

Compensation: $70,762.40 - $106,143.60

Requirements:

Education:

Master’s degree in a realted field to assigned area, preferably in a field compatible with government and higher education, or international business/international relations.

Experience:

Three (3) years of related administrative experience, including experience in: international education including developing, directing and administering programs and services, as well as budgetary and supervisory experience; study abroad administration and/or advising and experience working in international student services; principles and standards regarding federal compliance regulations for international students.

  • Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS);
  • Visa processes for both incoming and outgoing students, including knowledge of F, J, and other relevant visas;
  • Issues related to education abroad, including knowledge of pre-departure orientation, financial aid, risk management, and other issues related to education abroad.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
