Senior Instructional Technologist [ID: 284]
Position Summary:

Provides consulting, training, skill-building, design and support services to departments and instructors using technology to improve instruction and strengthen the curriculum. Responsible for identifying and testing new technologies that enhance learning outcomes. Identifies trends, gathers and analyzes data, recommends standards, and implements technology development plans. Using emerging educational technologies develops alternative assessment strategies to integrate into course development. Provides a leadership role in a team model environment to advance the development of technology-enhanced curriculum, courses and instructional programs.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Develops multimedia presentations for courses, meetings, and seminars;
  • Designs, develops, implements and/or coordinates the development of computerized media such as instructional web pages;
  • Implements and maintains instructional technology systems used for departmental use.

 

Incumbents in this class perform professional-level activities requiring specialized skills in an area such as instructional design, web design, interactive learning, and related instructional technology resources.  Incumbent responsibilities include supporting staff and faculty in instructional design, virtual campus and computing services through providing training and instruction; researching data and information; and making recommendations for upgrades in hardware, software, equipment, and current technology in the field.  

Compensation: $59,309.68 - $74,137.10

Requirements:

Education:

Master’s degree in instructional technology, adult education, curriculum planning or in a related field to assigned area.

Experience:

Three (3) years experience implementing and utilizing instructional technology. Experience in instructional design, computer-based training, course development and instruction. Strong background in curriculum development, multimedia production, distance learning technologies and web design is required. Project management skills and experience working with higher education faculty preferred. Experience in distance learning or technology-enhanced courses, including blended and/or online courses preferred. Experience with project management skills to meet deadlines and deliverables preferred.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
