Project Coordinator I [ID: 35]
Position Summary:

Plans, organizes, implements and coordinates a specialized educational project or training project within a major program or grant.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Plans, organizes, implements and coordinates a project either as part of a major college program or under conditions of a grant;
  • Administers all aspects of the specific project including development, submission and maintenance of any grant which may be involved in the project;
  • Coordinates record keeping, reporting evaluation and financial matters of the project. Tracks, monitors and prepares required reports and records including payroll time sheets, attendance records and disciplinary records;
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the project.
  • Maintains or supervises the maintenance of participants database to track the progress of students;
  • Develops curriculum for the courses offered and maintains the project content and objectives on a current basis;
  • Supervises activities of staff employed to present the courses or those who assist in the various aspects of the project. Recruits, hires and schedules instructors necessary to maintain the classes offered;
  • Participates in the training of project students or participants;
  • Participates in the recruitment and retention activities of student or participants in the specific project. Functions as community liaison and makes presentations to promote and explain the objectives of the college project;
  • Counsels and advises participants regarding their progress and provides assistance in areas related to the goals of the project;
  • Performs research and gathers technical data to improve the project;
  • May be responsible for coordinating a learning support center or similar instructional situation. Functions as liaison between students and faculty;
  • Schedules and manages large volume of adjunct instructors;
  • Ensures proper credentialing of instructors and maintains all required documentation;
  • Coordinates scheduling of adjunct instructors.

 

This is the first of six levels in the Student Support Professional series.  The classification is responsible for providing complete organizational information and services to students and prospective students in single areas or across a number of disciplines that may include admissions, financial aid, academic advising, career services, international students, and disability services.   This level is differentiated from the previous level by the focus on providing professional-level career counseling and/or academic advisement and providing direct student assistance in career development activities; incumbents are responsible for coordinating internal and external partnerships to enhance services; making referrals for resources to assist in the students' career and educational success; and serving as a liaison between high schools, students, employers, and departments within the college.

Compensation: $44,319.64 - $55,399.55

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field to assigned area.

Experience:

Three (3) years experience in a field relating to the project assigned. Community relations and teaching experience preferred.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

  •  Procedures and practices involved in the specific project area of assignment;
  • Post secondary education, curriculum development and community needs;
  •  Procedures used in instructing students;
  •  Process involved in developing and implementing a grant project.
  • Applicable student support programs, academic advising, and/or related programs;
  • Program development and program management principles and practices;
  • Customer service principles;
  • Career planning principles and practices;
  • Community networking principles and practices;
  • Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;
  • Diverse populations and cultures;
  • Recordkeeping principles;
  • Computers and related software applications.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
