Position Summary:

Typical Essential Duties

  • Works with all phases of college (bookstore, business office, etc.) in connection with course scheduling and registration;
  • Assists the public, clients, students, faculty and staff by providing information concerning the project or services of the program;
  • Attends meetings, seminars and conferences to explain or receive information relative to the work assignment;
  • Represents the administrative supervisor at meetings and in discussions with clients;
  • Assists the supervisor in planning and maintenance of the program;
  • Supervises the work of a clerical staff and/or student assistants;
  • Works with clients to develop quick response grants.

This class is the first of three levels in the Business Development series.  Incumbents develop and market conferences or training programs to external clients.  Responsibilities may include establishing and maintaining relationships with clients; identifying client needs; developing training curriculum or conference schedules; pricing trainings/conferences; selecting instructors/speakers; marketing services; and monitoring a budget.

Compensation: $46,226.34 - $64,716.88

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in marketing or in a related field to assigned area.

Experience:

Four (4) years of related experience, including marketing or sales. Experience in an adult training program. Experience with and knowledge of technology as it relates to training.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

  • Business plan development techniques;
  • Marketing principles and practices;
  • Project management principles;
  • Applicable Federal, State and local laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Proper use of the English language;
  • Public relations principles;
  • Recordkeeping principles;
  • Basic negotiation techniques;
  • Computers and related software applications.

Skills:

  • Developing business plans;
  • Developing and implementing marketing and communication plans;
  • Coordinating, prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple simultaneous projects;
  • Managing and coordinating the preparation and publication of a variety of marketing, promotional, and/or communication materials;
  • Maintaining records;
  • Using a computer and related software applications;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Supports Corporate Training's programs; sells current Corporate Training programs to corporations and government agencies by writing proposals, estimating cost, pricing product, meeting customers and providing customer services.

Develops and executes marketing strategies to promote center services throughout the college District, which includes: determining effective vehicles for communicating center services; monitoring marketing budgets; designing print and electronic marketing pieces; determines appropriate distribution methods; maintaining the center’s web page; and, performing other related activities.

Develops curriculum, hires instructors, and delivers classes regarding small business topics, which includes: assessing training needs for the business community; researching resource materials; designing curriculum to meet needs; and, performing other related activities.

Provides technical and training support to customers such as implementation of new e-learning programs.

Maintains a variety of marketing materials, promotional items, communication materials and records.
