Museum Education Coordinator [ID: 42]
Position Summary:

Responsible for coordinating programs, activities and budget for the Education Department of the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art.


Typical Essential Duties

  • Coordinate planning, scheduling and evaluation of Museum related educational programs including docent/volunteer training, educational programs including tours, classes (children through adult), lectures, workshops, symposia, family days, and other related programming;
  • Serve as liaison to administration and teachers of Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco county public and private school systems by developing curriculum related materials and assessing academic needs;
  • Serve as grants coordinator for education related grants including State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs funding;
  • Plan and coordinate student exhibitions for the Leahla S. Bell Gallery;
  • Assist with design and maintenance of museum web site; serve as a contributor to newsletter and other museum publications; and assist with coordination and design of educational materials;
  • Serve as liaison with Program Manager of Art Education Center for coursework and staffing development.

The classification is responsible for coordinating the operations and activities of an assigned academic program or area and may supervise lower level administrative or program support staff.  This class is responsible for scheduling classes, trainings, or related events; coordinating the staff, and the use of resources for determined; coordinating internal and external relationships and partnerships; implementing project plans and providing project status updates and reviews; researching and analyzing information or other related data to improve the services or operations of the program; and may be responsible for monitoring a budget.

Compensation: $59,309.68 - $74,137.10

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in studio art, art education, museum studies or in a related field to assigned area with experience in curriculum development and educational/event planning. Credentialed for college level teaching.

Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

One (1) year experience in museum education.

One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in area assigned.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking,grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
