Custodial & Landscape Services Manager [ID: 464]
Position Summary:

Typical Essential Duties

  • Leads, plans, organizes, and oversees operation of college custodial and landscape services;
  • Assures that all necessary staff have appropriate licensure and training in the use of chemicals associated with their respective tasks;
  • Maintains inventory of custodial and landscaping supplies and materials;
  • Coordinates grounds and custodial activities after regular hours.

This is the third of four levels in the Facilities Management series.  Incumbents coordinate the work of grounds maintenance employees and outside contractors.  Responsibilities may include prioritizing and assigning tasks; coordinating projects, timelines and costs with grounds staff and contractors; tracking work orders; ordering materials and supplies; monitoring a budget; and supervising lower level employees.  Incumbents may supervise student workers.

Compensation: $59,309.68 - $74,137.10

Requirements:

Education:

Associate’s Degree. Florida School Plant Management Association Custodial Trainer Certificate or equivalent.

Experience:

Five (5) years of supervisory experience in custodial and/or landscape operations experience in commercial or institutional facilities.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. 
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Monitors the work of contractors.

Monitors sanitation procedures of college wide facilities, ensures landscaping and grounds are maintained in compliance with applicable standards and specifications; oversees college wide pest control services.

Works with other departments to: prioritize projects that would impact the day to day operations of the facility; develops project timelines.

Monitors the department budget; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; submits justifications for budget items; monitors expenditures; approves invoices.

Prepares, reviews, and maintains a variety of records and reports related to day-to-day operations in assigned area of responsibility; and provides status updates.
