College Support Coordinator [ID: 474]
Position Summary:

Recruit volunteers (including student ambassadors) to meet College needs, facilitate volunteer development and the quality of services provided.

Typcial Essential Duties

  • Coordinates volunteers for College initiatives;
  • Partners with student life and leadership coordinators and college recruiters to facilitate a student ambassador program;
  • Works closely with the Student Government Association members and other Student Leadership Organizations to provide volunteer opportunities in the community and in conjunction with College activities (i.e. student ambassadors);
  • Recruits and assigns volunteers for projects and initiatives;
  • Maintains correspondence and contact with volunteers;
  • Solicits College needs and develops job descriptions for appropriate volunteer positions;
  • Maintains contact with campus representatives to remain apprised of volunteer needs;
  • Reviews college policies and procedures to assure program compliance, and recommends changes or additions as they relate to the volunteer program;
  • Develops operational and promotional materials for news releases and for public speaking engagements related to the volunteer program
  • Establishes an evaluation process for volunteers and conducts regular assessments of the program’s success;
  • Submits regular reports relating to program;
  • Assembles and maintains statistics on the types of services and duties performed by volunteers.
    Coordinates and implements an annual recognition program for volunteers;
  • Maintains departmental budget.

This is the first of six levels in the Student Support Professional series.  The classification is responsible for providing complete organizational information and services to students and prospective students in single areas or across a number of disciplines that may include admissions, financial aid, academic advising, career services, international students, and disability services.   This level is differentiated from the previous level by the focus on providing professional-level career counseling and/or academic advisement and providing direct student assistance in career development activities; incumbents are responsible for coordinating internal and external partnerships to enhance services; making referrals for resources to assist in the students' career and educational success; and serving as a liaison between high schools, students, employers, and departments within the college.

Compensation: $44,319.64 - $55,399.55

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's  Degree in a related field to assigned area.

Experience:

Three (3) years experience working with volunteers or related groups. 

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

  • Applicable student support programs, academic advising, and/or related programs;
  • Program development and program management principles and practices;
  • Customer service principles;
  • Career planning principles and practices;
  • Community networking principles and practices;
  • Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;
  • Diverse populations and cultures;
  • Recordkeeping principles;
  • Computers and related software applications.

Skills:

  • Ability to travel within the district and the state in order to facilitate activities;
  • Negotiating skills to coordinate internal service with outside contractors.
  • Coordinating student support programs or services;
  • Planning and developing programs;
  • Advising students on academic, finance or career issues;
  • Providing customer service;
  • Promoting services;
  • Researching service delivery methods;
  • Creating resumes and cover letters;
  • Maintaining records;
  • Using a computer and related software applications;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Develops, manages, and communicates resources through program promotions, class presentations, training sessions, and faculty and community partnerships.
