Executive Director, Learning Resources [ID: 521]
Position Summary:

Plans, organizes, manages, evaluates, and directs the college-wide mission regarding learning outside the classroom, including library, tutoring, and associated resources.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Directs the overall library and learning resources services and programs on all campuses and sites;
  • Communicates with campus provosts/associate provosts and faculty regarding program, facilities, and personnel matters;
  • Handles grievances with library and learning resources personnel;
  • Recommends and assists in the procurement of grants for the library system as well as for learning resources college-wide;
  • Keeps abreast of and capitalizes on new and emerging trends in teaching and learning strategies and technologies across all learning environments and modalities;
  • Works with faculty to integrate learning resources and services into instructional programs;
  • Explores, evaluates, and recommends ways to leverage learning resources to maximize student engagement levels;
  • Collaborates with deans to evaluate and recommend pedagogies that promote student success.
  • Provides support to and participates in college-wide student retention and completion initiatives;
  • Recommends high-impact practices in response to state and national trends in higher education.

The classification is responsible for directing the activities of an assigned academic related department or program.  Incumbents will develop strategies to accomplish goals, implement policies and procedures, and develop and monitor an assigned budget.  Incumbents may need to perform professional level work within assignment and will supervise employees or student workers. This classification is different from previous class in the scope of responsibility.

Compensation: $100,009.21 - $125,011.51

Requirements:

Education:

Master's degree in library science, higher education, developmental discipline or related field to assigned area. Doctorate degree preferred.

Experience:

Five (5) years supervisory experience in higher education.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Directs and oversees staff which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

Prepares and administers a budget which includes grant budgets; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; submits justifications for budget items; monitors and controls expenditures.

Directs the implementation of activities and operations of a significant College program, department, or service offering impacting a large area and range of services, which includes planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, student retention, strategic planning, processes, policies, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; developing short- and long-range strategies; developing academic assessment strategies; ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards; and coordinating activities between multiple functions.

Prepares, reviews, and interprets a variety of applications, agreements, forms, records, needs assessments, business correspondence, and reports; makes recommendations based on findings.
