Social Media Marketing Specialist [ID: 522]
Position Summary:

Plan and implement marketing strategies and campaigns through social media optimization.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Develop, build, implement and manage brand identification processes and programs to accomplish general online social media penetration goals;
  • Solicit, create and post content that attracts attention and encourages readers to share it with their social networks;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with social network members, bloggers and the online community;
  • Participate in building websites that include integration points to various social networking and micro blogging sites and tools;
  • Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs, and analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results;
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, trends and applications.

This is the second of four levels in the Marketing/Communications series. Incumbents produce marketing and communications collateral for use in printed and/or online marketing and communications efforts. Responsibilities may include researching; drafting; proofreading and editing written materials; designing graphics; coordinating photo shoots; and uploading and organizing photographs.

Compensation: $44,319.64 - $55,399.55

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field to assigned area.

Experience:

Two (2) years in public relations, marketing, social media, journalism or related field.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Knowledge:

  •  In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their  respective participants (Facebook, Digg, Youtube, Twitter, Flickr etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios;
  • Writing content for the Web;
  • Content Management System structure;

Skills:

  • Monitor news and trends and to leverage those news and trends to bring interest/expertise/attention for college and its programs;
  • Managing and coordinating the preparation and publication of a variety of marketing, promotional, and/or communication materials;

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

 

  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Writes, edits, and proofreads publications, web content, feature stories and communication materials, which include: assigning writers; editing content; choosing cover concepts, artwork, graphic designs, and printing quantities; coordinating photo-shoots; and ensuring content meets established design criteria.

Manages project workflow which includes prioritizing project needs, determining work assignments, and ensuring department efficiency.
