Human Resources Director [ID: 686]
Position Summary:

Directs, plans, supervises and implements the day-to-day functions of Human Resources including planning and directing all phases of a diversified and comprehensive Human Resources department, which include: Federal and State Compliance, departmental budget analysis and auditing, Employee Relations, Benefits, Training and Development, Payroll, and Recruiting functions. Reports to the Vice President of Administration, Business Services and Information Technology.  

Typical Essential Duties

  • Consults and advises administrators on a wide variety of sensitive personnel issues (e.g. discipline, hiring, promotions, return to work, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in effective decision-making and enforcing relevant policies, procedures and regulations;
  • Assists in the preparation and analysis of data for distribution various reports on HR metrics to ensure needs are met;
  • Utilizes technology to enhance and measure the results of human resources programs;
  • Researches information required to manage projects including reviewing relevant policies, current practices, staffing requirements, financial resources, etc. for the purpose of developing new programs/services; ensuring compliance with legislative requirements; securing general information for planning, and/or responding to requests;
  • Serves on college-wide leadership committees.

Incumbents direct the operations of multiple human resource functions, requiring the application of human resources principles and practices and broad knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.  In addition to performing professional and technical duties, incumbents provide overall work and project direction, and are responsible for developing strategies to accomplish goals, implementing policies and procedures, and developing and monitoring an assigned budget.

Compensation: $85,006.50 - $127,509.76

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field to assigned area, preferably in Human Resources Certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or other advanced work highly desirable. 

Experience:

Five (5) years of Human Resource Management experience, two of which must have been at the administrative/managerial level in a comprehensive human resource management function.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Prepares and manages departmental and project budgets; forecasts staffing, equipment, and material expenses for budget planning; monitors and controls expenditures; and adjusts budget items as needed.
