Simulation Coordinator [ID: 79]
Position Summary:

The Coordinator will ensure maximum and effective use of equipment and resources. The Coordinator will interact with, and be involved in, the use of technology ranging from low fidelity standardized patient simulators, anatomic models and task trainers to extreme high fidelity human simulators and virtual reality programs. The position is primarily responsible for collaborating in the design, development, implementation, instruction and evaluation of individual curricula and programmatic evaluation for clinician and student educational initiatives through the use of technology based training and assessment.

The Coordinator will also be responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation, managing initiatives for the integration of simulation technology into clinical education, and developing and coordinating simulation training and use the resources of the SCENE.

Position-specific assignments with typical essential duties

  • Leads the design, development and delivery (instruction) of clinical simulation initiatives in the College of Nursing, and collaboratively with Allied Health Programs;
  • Coordinates research projects that emanate from the SCENE and/or that use the simulation equipment and other simulation facilities;
  • Coordinates the maintenance and repair of all equipment in the SCENE;
  • Operates and programs the human simulators and other equipment and conducts simulation exercises;
  • Maintains appropriate levels of supplies and other disposable and non-disposable items including the gases necessary for the operation of the SCENE;
  • Promotes the interests of the SCENE in professional and community forums so as to enhance the image and understanding of the SCENE;
  • Communicates the effectiveness of Patient Simulation activities, including publications, presentations at national and international conferences, etc;
  • Participates in simulations and teaching across the curricula.

This is the third of four levels in the Instructional Support series.  Incumbents plan, organize, coordinate, and provide educational support services in an assigned area.  Responsibilities may include developing, scheduling, and implementing programs and activities that support class goals and students' academic goals; maintaining instructional equipment, materials, or other supplies; and working directly with individual or groups of students to assess and support academic progress.

Compensation: $46,978.82 - $58,723.53

Requirements:

Education:

Masters degree in Nursing and three (3) years of relevant experience.

Experience:

Four (4) years of experience. Due to the clinical nature of the training programs, strong consideration will be given to candidates that have a clinical background at the level of an advanced practice nurse or nurse practitioner with three (3) years of direct patient care experience. She/he must be well versed in adult education theory, able to use instructional technology, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, have effective management skills, and be able to work a flexible schedule.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.  Excellent computer skills.  Knowledge of the grants process and related pertinent resources. Ability to write proposals. Ability to interact  with outside sources and staff. Ability to manage the grants development process from identification of opportunity to setting up a new budget in timely manner.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
