Position Summary:

Incumbents plan and implement fundraising functions that engage specific audiences and generate financial support for the organization. Primary responsibilities include donor cultivation, solicitation, management and investment.  Other responsibilities may include planning and coordinating special events and activities; collecting/analyzing data and preparing reports; maintaining a record of activities; designing, writing, and editing a broad range of communications. Extensive travel within Tampa Bay area required. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who has the ability and drive to work unsupervised.  He/she will have demonstrable success in fundraising and be collaborative, strategic and results-oriented.

Compensation: $49,409.85 - $69,173.79

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field to assigned area.

Experience:

Three (3) years experience with a verifiable track record of successful major gift acquisition.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Knowledge:

  • Proven track record in the implementation of fundraising principles, processes and practices including donor/prospect cultivation, solicitation and closing of annual and major gifts, campaign development/management, stewardship and recognition opportunities;
  • Proficiency with computers, electronic communications and MS Office applications;
  • Strategic planning principles, establishing timelines and deliverables;
  • Development of written communications, proposals, grants and gift agreement documents;
  • Endowment and term gift principles;
  • Report preparation and analysis techniques;
  • Process improvement principles;
  • Analytical methods and techniques;
  • Recordkeeping principles;
  • English language, grammar, and punctuation;
  • Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations

Skills:

  • Demonstrable fundraising skills; ability to identify and involve prospects/donors; articulate the impact of their involvement and secure annual and major gifts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as applied to a broad range of constituencies including donors, partners, coworkers, supervisor, students, the general public, etc.
  • Identify fundraising opportunities, emerging trends, needs, and/or best practices;
  • High level of initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to fully manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully from inception to completion
  • Detail oriented and high attention to accuracy
  • Preparing clear and concise communications, correspondence, records, reports, documents and forms;
  • Using a computer and related software applications;
  • Writing and researching grants, proposals etc. to secure funding;
  • Coordinating program activities and Compiling and analyzing data;
  • Prioritizing work and maintaining confidential files and records;
  • Establishing and following procedural and technical standards;
  • Applying and explaining applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and/or procedures

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Manages assigned database systems, including data entry, management, analysis and updates to determine content and ensure accuracy; runs queries and prepares reports for various projects and activities; develops and prepares gift acknowledgement letters as well as other correspondence and communications that advance the objectives of the organization.
