Senior Web Developer [ID: 852]
Position Summary:

Responsible for advanced level development, testing, implementation and maintenance of all facets of web-based application systems for St. Petersburg College. Innovator in the latest web technologies and at least 5 years in web design, development and related fields. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Very strong web development background with content management experience and a contemporary, clean sense of design.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Conduct web based development and implementation consistent with the College’s strategic goals.
  • Provide resolution of issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain all required documentation related to the College’s web applications.
  • Provide direction and leadership for web related project assignments
  • Work within project schedules and plans
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Incumbents are responsible for overseeing a marketing or communications related function or service for the College by managing the daily activities, prioritizing assignments, determining marketing and communication plans, developing plans to approach marketing projects, implementing the project solutions, and performing related professional level marketing or communications work in assigned area.  Incumbents may be responsible for supervising employees or student workers, and developing and monitoring a budget.

Compensation: $71,305.18 - $89,131.48

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Experience:

 Eight (8) years job related experience of an equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Expert proficiency in: HTML/HTML5, PHP, jQuery, Javascript, WordPress, CSS3, ASP.NET (C#), ADO.NET, ASP, XML, MySQL
  • Experience securing web applications and knowledge of security concepts (cookies, certificates, encryption, etc) and common web attack vectors (like cross-site scripting, SQL-injection); strong understanding of HTTP, HTTPS and SSL/TLS protocols 
  • Technical abilities in building SharePoint portals and custom SharePoint development using C#, CSS for SharePoint;
  • Technical abilities in managing, updating and developing for web content management (CMS) systems
  • Technical abilities in implementing ASP.NET and XML (SOAP and REST) web services and integration with commercial APIs including but not limited to ExactTarget, Salesforce.com, PeopleSoft Integration Broker, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL (T-SQL), Oracle (PL-SQL) and MySQL databases
  • Familiarity with enterprise-grade, commercial ASP.NET content management systems like Ektron, Kentico, SiteCore or Umbraco, as well as custom development for such systems using ASP.NET (C#).
  • Familiarity with popular blog and content management platforms like WordPress and Drupal, as well as custom development for such systems using PHP. 
  • Responsive, fluid-grid as well as fixed-width design experience; familiarity with design frameworks like Bootstrap. Less, Skeleton, CreateJS, etc.  
  • Cross-browser experience, Testing & maintenance,  Adobe Creative Suite, some Flash, search engine optimization (SEO), Analytic implementation
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting technological platforms, databases, and systems;
  • Utilizing and managing systems;
  • Establishing and following procedural and technical standards;
  • Monitoring, assessing and troubleshooting web sites;
  • Training end-users on applications and systems;
  • Communicating technical information to a non-technical audience;
  • Designing, developing and implementing applications;
  • Interpreting customer requirements and translating into system specifications.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
