Associate Director, Learning Resources [ID: 855]
Position Summary:

Typical Essential Duties

  • Develops and leads on-campus and online library and learning center services and operations to meet the changing and continuous needs of students, faculty, and staff;
  • Budgets, plans, implements, directs, and evaluates services, programs, resources, material collections, and personnel within libraries, learning centers, and computer labs;
  • Facilitates staff, faculty, and student input into the planning and development of library and learning center resources and services;
  • Evaluates library processes, procedures, policies, resources and services to determine value, efficiency, and effectiveness;
  • Hires, leads, trains, schedules, and collaborates with department personnel to ensure implementation of best practices and ongoing employee empowerment, equity, and success; 
  • Maintains quality and satisfaction with public services, equipment and technologies, and learning spaces and designs. Mitigates related grievances.
  • Builds, directs, and schedules targeted instructional and outreach programs to promote Learning Resources across the campus and college;
  • Forms and sustains strategic partnerships with faculty and administrators to integrate Learning Resources programming and materials into the curriculum and culture of the campus and the college;
  • Adapts and integrates college initiatives into the mission and services of Learning Resources, especially commitments to retention, completion, and overall academic success.
  • Monitors and advocates for personnel and program budgets.
  • Tracks, evaluates, and reports statistics of facility and service usage.
  • Coordinates with fellow Learning Resources administrators to create, communicate, and implement consistent policies and procedures for libraries and learning centers, as applicable to all stakeholders;
  • Serves as member of college-wide Learning Resources leadership team; collaborates consistently with team to develop and implement innovative departmental programs and initiatives, especially those geared toward student retention and completion; and takes responsibility of certain initiatives or programs as part of a distributed leadership model;
  • Assists the Executive Director, Learning Resources regarding budgetary matters, strategic planning, organizational visioning, departmental assessment, and ongoing innovations;
  • Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates and manages the work performance of staff in accordance with college and departmental rules, policies and procedures;
  • Controls equipment/materials utilized within the program;
  • Serves as active member of campus leadership team;
  • Interacts with external industries, businesses, and professional groups on behalf of the college.

The classification is responsible for performing professional and/or program management duties in academic related specialties in a single department or function.  Incumbents will manage the daily activities, develop plans to approach projects, implement solutions, and perform professional level work in assigned area.  Incumbents are responsible for supervising employees or student workers, and developing and monitoring a budget.

Compensation: $62,868.26 - $78,585.33

Requirements:

Education:

Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science or equivalent.  

Experience:

Three (3) years’ experience in an academic library and or learning center, including three years supervisory experience.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. 
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
