Print Shop Graphic Artist (MPI) [ID: 861]
Position Summary:

The Print Shop Graphic Artist will work within the Print Shop and support Xerox CMD StoreFront order from various faculty, staff and departments at St. Petersburg College. This person will manage and maintain the templates housed on the StoreFront, and ensure all are in line with Brand Standard Guidelines.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Collaborating with others within the MPI Print Shop;
  • Knowledge of current versions of Adobe Creative Suite-including Adobe Acrobat and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Ability to articulate and justify creative concepts to faculty and staff;
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive direction to improve overall quality of design;
  • Planning, time-management and follow-through skills;
  • Ability to develop effective design solutions within constraints of deadlines and budgets;
  • Knowledge to develop and maintain print templates in line with brand standards;
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with other staff and team members.

This is first of two levels in the Graphic Design series.  Incumbents design communication materials in various forms.  Responsibilities may include identifying customer needs; designing layouts, artwork, flyers, websites, forms, etc.; taking photographs; designing logos or similar graphics; developing multimedia presentations; and maintaining records of activities.

Compensation: $17.36 - $21.71

Requirements:

Education:

Assoc. degree or equivalent experience.

 

Experience:

Two (2) years of knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

Print Design experience.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Designs layout for ads and promotional materials, which includes creating designs, determining size and arrangement of text and illustrative material, updating and enhancing designs, and proofreading and editing materials as necessary.
