Community Relations Coordinator [ID: 883]
Position Summary:

The person in this role will advance the community understanding of, and support for, St. Petersburg College while driving new inquiries to the Pre-Admissions team in order to increase enrollment throughout the College. The position reports to the Director of Pre-Admissions as well as supports the Assistant Director of Public Information. The individuals will manage the Student Ambassadors at the campuses in their region, inline with strategic community relations and outreach opportunities.

This position requires a unique mix of skills and experience including communications, public relations, community outreach, community engagement, and importantly also sales. It will require a results driven professional with high energy and maturity who is a self-starter with a passion for increasing enrollment for St. Petersburg College. The successful candidate is a goal achiever with a proven track record of positive results. They will have the ability to work independently and part of a team.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Execute a community outreach strategy, set forth by the Director of Pre-Admissions in collaboration with the Marketing and Public Information department, to build awareness of St. Petersburg College’s focus on student success while positioning the College beyond the “SPJC” recognition;
  • Maintain proactive relationships with community leaders and specifically with guidance counselors and other key staff at local high schools within specified territories;
  • Initiate outreach programs with a focus to increase the amount of inquiries generated for the College and achieve the monthly individual inquiry goal assigned;
  • Cultivate new opportunities and contacts both for the College overall, as well as programmatically;
  • Plan and implement recruiting strategies to engage prospective students to apply and pay their application fee to St. Petersburg College; and then ultimately enroll and start class;
  • Speak at local high schools with assigned territory and attend college fairs in representation of St. Petersburg College;
  • Organize, coordinate attendance and arrange for faculty to present at programmatic niche marketing conferences;
  • Contribute to the St. Petersburg College newsletters, events calendars, media outreach, social media and website content;
  • Oversee and implement pubic events, meetings, tours and open house information sessions;
  • Organize and participate at community outreach activities to educate the broader community about St. Petersburg College and our programs;
  • Support the community outreach efforts of each campus with toolkits, plans and templates;
  • Available to attend evening, weekend and community events and meetings;
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Public Information to ensure outreach efforts are in alignment with strategic priorities;
  • Creates awareness for the College’s programs and services within the community using a variety of communication methods including public speaking, email, social media, phone and information sessions;
  • Performs a variety of student support activities, which includes interviewing prospective students, reviewing transcripts, following up with prospective students and responding to student inquiries.  

 

Incumbents design, operate and maintain studio and/or television, video conference, and related media.  Responsibilities may include designing video conference and other media services layouts; developing specifications for the purchase of equipment and services; installing and repairing equipment and systems; operating television transmission, production, editing, and distribution and satellite uplink/downlink systems; and maintains records of activities.

Compensation: $44,319.64 - $55,399.55

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field to assigned area.

 

Experience:

Five (5) years in community relations, public affairs or related field.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching,  reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
