Instructional Support Technician [ID: 891]
Position Summary:

Instructional Support Technicians perform professional-level activities requiring specialized skills in instructional technology, interactive learning, and related academic technology resources. Incumbent responsibilities include collaborating with faculty in instructional technology tools, researching new tools for active learning, and assisting faculty in creating learning activities and content for classes in all delivery methods.

Typical Essential Duties


Responsible for:

  • Assisting instructors with the learning management system.
  • Troubleshooting technical course design issues with faculty.
  • Coordinating with instructional technology specialists to develop and deliver technical training sessions.
  • Guiding instructors as they develop instructional materials.
  • Documenting implemented applications and tools to facilitate effective support of the related systems.
  • Researching, providing information, and coordinating updates on instructional technology tools

Incumbents in this class perform professional-level activities requiring specialized skills in an area such as instructional design, web design, interactive learning, and related instructional technology resources.  Incumbent responsibilities include supporting staff and faculty in instructional design, virtual campus and computing services through providing training and instruction; researching data and information; and making recommendations for upgrades in hardware, software, equipment, and current technology in the field.

Compensation: $55,952.53 - $69,940.66

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in information technology, education, or a related field.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Experience:

Three (3) years experience designing and utilizing instructional technology.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

4.

Performs content processing and design duties which includes converting documents into interactive content and assessments; creating graphics, editing images, audio files, and video files; and/or related duties.

5.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
