Scholarship Manager [ID: 908]
Position Summary:

Incumbent oversees all aspects of a multi-million dollar scholarship initiative and manages a highly sophisticated database program that supports the initiative.  He/she continually evaluates the program and assures optimal performance and effectiveness.  The incumbent will work to successfully:

Generate visibility and support for scholarship program, opportunities and outcomes through the preparation and presentation of a range of communication vehicles including correspondence, reports, scholarship agreements, promotional materials and special events; manage, design, implement and analyze database program, including features, structure and layout, to optimize reporting and efficiency; provide recommendations for program enhancements; interface with high-end donors, community leaders, college leadership and students; provides accurate and timely donor account information; develop, implement and communicate program and departmental policies and procedures; research, interface and recommend improvement related to third-party software provider; assist students with scholarship application; train and assist internal and external scholarship committees.

Compensation: $49,409.85 - $69,173.79

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in, communications, computer science, marketing, or a related field, and three years related experience.

Experience:

Three (3) years related experience.

  • Database development methods, principles, and practices;
  • Scholarship development, application, selection and awarding process;
  • Endowment and term fund stewardship principles;
  • Program management, process improvement and strategic planning principles;
  • Recordkeeping principles and report preparation techniques
  • Effective communication and writing principles;
  • English language, grammar, and punctuation;
  • Computers and related software applications.
  • Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

Skills:

  • Monitoring, assessing and managing databases;
  • Ability to communicate complex information simply, concisely and accurately
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills, including correspondence, promotional materials, records, reports, documents and forms as applied to interaction with supervisor, coworkers, donors, college leadership, students and the general public.
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments
  • Ability to multi-task without jeopardizing efficiency, effectiveness or accuracy
  • Establishing and following procedural and technical standards;
  • Developing, implementing and training end users on applications and systems;
  • Applying and explaining applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and/or procedures;
  • Recognizing problems, identifying alternative solutions, and making appropriate recommendations;
  • Maintaining files and records;
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Manages a comprehensive database program utilizing Excel and other computer software. Prepares, verifies, and updates a broad range of records and develops reports to determine content and ensure accuracy of data. Monitors scholarship criteria and spending allocations for each scholarship fund. Adheres to the highest standards of confidentiality.

Develops and delivers a range of communications including correspondence, reports, presentations and promotional materials to help maintain and grow scholarship program as well as to increase awareness of scholarship opportunities among current and potential SPC students.

Designs and implements database features, structures and layout; performs ongoing evaluation of performance, efficiency and effectiveness of scholarship management software; identifies enhancement and makes recommendations related to third party software provider.

Interacts with high end donors, college leadership and students to develop, promote and assist in the implementation of all aspects of the scholarship process.  Includes establishing term and endowed scholarships awards, preparing scholarship agreements, advising on selection criteria, assisting with application completion and ensuring compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.

Coordinates scholarship selection process each term.  Convenes selection committees comprised of college representatives and external partners; leads training and selection sessions; processes awards; prepares and delivers related student and donor notifications.

Plans and coordinates annual Scholarship Luncheon involving high-end donors, students, college personnel and other guests.
