Web Design and Developer Technologist [ID: 914]
Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Interactive, assist in the conceptualization and design for St. Petersburg College branded websites, landing pages, mobile apps, social media branding, email templates, and responsive user experience and interface design to support the College’s overall marketing strategy. The role is responsible for designing, coding and modifying websites, from layout to function and according to set specifications.

Typical Essential Duties:

  • Create unique concepts for St. Petersburg College web presences and properties based on strategic marketing initiatives.
  • User experience and user interface design for desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
  • Ensure compliance with ADA regulations.
  • Create the look, layout and features of an evolving network of websites for St. Petersburg College, with concentrated efforts on implementation, continued evolution and improvement.
  • Provides input into the design, technical issues, concepts and mockups to advance the web vision.
  • Produces and maintains comprehensive, usable documentation per project, including requirements, design, implementation, deployment, testing and maintenance.
  • Stays relevant in emerging trends in subject areas related to web design, content management, online channel optimization, and the Ingeniux platform.
  • Provide resolution of issues in a timely manner
  • Provide direction and leadership for web related project assignments
  • Work within project schedules and plans
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

This is the second of two levels in the Graphic Design series. Incumbents plan and coordinate graphic design services for the College.  Responsibilities may include assigning and supervising design work done by the lower level; establishing standards and processes for graphic design work; defining customer needs; approving graphic designs for College use; and performing the duties of the lower level.  Incumbents supervise the lower level.

Compensation: $52,785.40 - $65,981.75

Requirements:

Education:

Associate's degree.

Experience:

Five (5) plus years’ job related experience of an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Knowledge:

  • Responsive website and webpage design.
  • Knowledge of CMS architecture, design and development.
  • The necessary programming knowledge to work in the web applications that St. Petersburg utilizes to accomplish set goals.
  • Graphic design techniques and principles;
  • Marketing principles and practices;
  • Project management principles;
  • Proper use of the English language;
  • Recordkeeping principles;
  • Contract negotiation techniques;
  • Photography principles;
  • Customer service principles;
  • Computers and related software applications.

Skills:

  • Experience with the programming languages .Net, PHP and HTML as it pertains to web design.
  • Adequate knowledge of database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development.
  • Experience building emails and landing pages.
  • Prioritizing and assigning work;
  • Developing and implementing marketing plans;
  • Coordinating, prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple simultaneous projects;
  • Managing and coordinating the preparation and publication of a variety of marketing, promotional, and/or communication materials;
  • Preparing clear and concise marketing materials;
  • Designing promotional layouts and graphics;
  • Maintaining operational records;
  • Providing customer service;
  • Using a computer and related software applications;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
