Apprenticeship Employer Recruiter [ID: 915]
Position Summary:

This position provides outreach to expand current apprenticeship programs with existing employers, promote and increase awareness of apprenticeships with employers, college and high school students, incumbent workers, unemployed workers and veterans.  The recruiter will recruit IT, Advanced Manufacturing and Healthcare companies to become apprenticeship sites.  Recruiter will also work with partners to recruit Apprenticeship program participants.  This position reports to the Apprenticeship Coordinator.  

Typical Essential Duties

  • Work with coordinator to develop a strategy to roll out Florida IT Apprenticeship Program
  • Attend, plan and facilitate recruitment activities to identify and recruit potential program participants by actively engaging in SPC community advisory committees, local high schools, adult education centers, businesses, community organizations and social service agencies. 
  • Effectively communicate program information to institutional, industry and community contacts by distributing program flyers, brochures and other promotional materials, and engaging in social media.
  • Initiate outreach activities with a focus of recruiting IT Employers and educating community about IT apprenticeships and engaging prospective students to apply. 
  • Conduct program presentations for industry, community, prospective students, current SPC students, parents, and other diverse audiences.  
  • Cultivate new partnerships and contacts with industry and community.  
  • Create awareness of apprenticeship programs within broader community by using a variety of communication methods including public speaking, email, social media, phone, and information sessions.  
  • Facilitate and organize public events, meetings, industry tours and program information sessions.  
  • Maintain and organize statistical data for program outreach evaluation, development, and reports. 
  • Provide support to workforce development by engaging students in career preparation workshops including resume assistance and interview preparation.
  • Refer participants to community-based organizations and/or social service agencies when appropriate.  
  • Assist in the development of an employer network interested in apprenticeships.   
  • Collaborate closely with Apprenticeship Coordinator in regards to recruitment and outreach strategies.  
  • Assist in a variety of program support activities, which include student advising, interviewing prospective students, following-up with prospective students and responding to student in inquiries.
Compensation: $44,319.64 - $55,399.55

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field from accredited institution.

Experience:

Three years related experience in conducting business needs assessments, and workforce development.

Knowledge:

  • Customer Service Principles
  • Community networking principles and practices
  • Diverse populations and cultures – including workforce generations
  • Workforce trends in IT, Manufacturing and Healthcare preferred
  • Secondary and post-secondary systems and populations preferred
  • Computers and related software applications

Skills:

  • Ability to cultivate and build relationships
  • Strong follow up skills
  • Marketing Skills/Social Media Skills including ability to write blogs
  • Ability to work with different generations in the workforce.
  • Understand the importance of compliance with applicable internal and/or external project requirements

Physical:

  • Position in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
