Institutional Research Analyst/Programmer [ID: 932]
Position Summary:

This is the third of six levels in the Information Technology series. Incumbents coordinate and implement the maintenance, use and enhancement of software or hardware systems critical to the operation of the College.  Responsibilities may include analyzing system capabilities and implementing process and procedure changes to better utilize software or hardware; coordinating with software vendors regarding software support and system enhancements; coordinating projects involving the implementation of new software or hardware, or system changes; and training end users.

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the Analyst/Programmer position provides support for college-wide reporting of student-related data to the Florida Department of Education, Florida College System, CCTCMIS, the Florida Auditor General’s Office, and other agencies.  Data submissions are primarily accomplished through file transfers to the Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC). 

Ensures the fidelity of the data query processes and accuracy of the data to meet the exacting demands of all reports. Documents all new processes and updates the documentation to reflect changes to ongoing processes.

Primary duties:

  • Prepare and submit the Student Database (SDB) three-times each year to the FCS CCTCMIS.  This requires the extraction of student information from PeopleSoft using programs/code written in SQL and delivered through SQRs.  SPC’s Student Database extraction program is very complicated with 7,500 lines of code.   The SDB is matched with the Lumens Database Personnel Database, the Integrated Database, and the Facilities Database. Modify SQRs to accommodate change in local policy. Work with Assessment Services to extract data for surveys.
  • Participates in the development of user and operational documentation
  • Provides and coordinates SQR reports for special data requests
  • Participates within an integrated team of IR professionals to provide for the data needs of the college
Compensation: $66,640.36 - $83,300.45

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Informatics, or in a related field

Experience:

Four (4) years of experience working in the Institutional Research field, preferably with knowledge of Florida College System state reporting and/or knowledge of PeopleSoft in the student administration systems.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.
