Public Safety Department Coordinator [ID: 959]
Position Summary:

Position assists the Dean and/or Academic Program Director at the campus level, plans and manages a specific department, discipline, and/or program(s).

Typical Essential Duties

  • Coordinates with academic program director and Dean about expenses and deliverables for academy, trust fund, and county grant specific training programs;
  • Develops and maintains relationships with public safety agencies and community partner organizations.
  • Plans, coordinates and monitors academy, training and grant funded program courses
  • Completes budget analysis for academy and course offerings
  • Responsible for monitoring compliance with state regulatory agencies;
  • Coordinates efforts with local agencies to program offerings within the region.
  • Maintains documentation of all courses and fiscal reports for annual audit by state regulatory agency;
  • Tracks equipment, materials and publications required for courses to maintain compliance;
  • Coordinates, supervises and reviews evaluations of professional training staff within each course or block of instruction. Documentation filed for audit;
  • Ensures high quality training opportunities to diverse public safety audiences and or employability skills required by local agencies for all levels of the profession;
  • Prepares course compliance and budget reports.
  • Develops and maintains curriculum, current lesson plans, required examinations, and ensures training staff are properly state certified by topic according to the specific state regulatory agency.
  • Develop new course and PSAV program opportunities based on regional agency needs.
  • Provide marketing of courses and programs; monitoring compliance with state guidelines;
  • Ensuring all academy and training opportunities align with academic pathways to provide opportunities for degree completion and career advancement.
Compensation: $59,309.68 - $74,137.10

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field to assigned area.  Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

Five (5) years of public safety training and education.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Coordinates assigned program and/or service, ensuring alignment with overall goals, policies and procedures. Coordinates department functions and/or services which may include implementing new initiatives to address student needs; managing admission, registration and graduation process; developing, monitoring and refining outcome metrics.

Develops, manages, and communicates resources through program promotions, agency and advisory outreach, training sessions, and faculty and community partnerships.

Develops and maintains internal and external relationships; participates in a variety of meetings, committees, task forces, and/or other related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and/or other information; represents program on committees, advocacy groups, and/or other related groups.

May monitor course or academy budget by submitting justifications for budget items, and monitoring program expenditures and equipment maintenance and upkeep.
