Budgeting Manager [ID: 970]
Position Summary:

Assists in the development of all college fund budgets and budget analysis. Analyzes and provides solutions to complex budgeting issues. Manage other budgeting staff.  Participates in college-wide strategic planning and analysis.

Typical Essential Duties

* Functions as the primary budget analyst in planning, reporting, monitoring and implementing budgeting practices;

* Responds to requests and budget information needs, conducting special studies and analyzing information as requested;

* Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve quality and service;

* Analyzes and resolves complex budgeting issues;

* Maintains computerized budget records and status data;

* Assists in coordination and implementation of the annual budget process and development;

* Provides lead guidance to managers and other Budgeting staff;

* Develops and conducts college-wide budget training; 

* Develops and maintains budgeting department website;

* Prepares budget amendments and financial reports for budget supervisors, department heads and other stakeholders;

* Researches relevant policies, current practices, financial resources; ensuring compliance with Board of Trustee rules, procedures and state requirements are met;

* Performs special projects and prepares reports;

* Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing encouraging transparency with all stakeholders;

* Other duties as assigned.

This is the second of four levels in the Accounting/Finance Professional series.  The classification is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports and data in assigned areas of responsibility. Responsibilities may include monitoring department budgets and/or grant funds; preparing budgets and financial models; identifying, researching, and resolving complex account discrepancies; preparing and analyzing standard and ad-hoc reports; and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and/or grant requirements.

Compensation: $55,952.53 - $69,940.66

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or in a related field to assigned area.

 

Five (5) years experience in higher education or public accounting. Prefer experience with the functional and/or technical requirements of financial enterprise systems (PeopleSoft preferred)

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Experience:

Five (5) years of responsible experience in budgeting, reporting and analysis in a diverse organization.
