Benefits and Wellness Senior Manager [ID: 971]
Position Summary:

Primarily responsible for contributing to the overall implementation, communication and administration of the organization’s health and wellness programs, while keeping in line the strategic goals of the college and mitigating short- and long-term risks. Works with all third-party vendors to refine the organization’s benefits strategy with continuous improvement of our existing and future offerings.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Consults and advises administrators and employees on benefits, to assist in effective decision-making and enforcing relevant policies, procedures and regulations;
  • Point of Contact for the employee insurances contracts and benefit vendors: ranging from medical, dental, vision to FSA, disability, voluntary plans and any fringe benefits;
  • Understands benefits census data and identifies classes of eligible employees for new or modified plans;
  • Coordinates Request for Proposal (RFP) process and evaluates s responses and proposals
  • Develops company cost information for new plans and recommends premium cost share;
  • Develops communication plan to include preparing announcement materials, benefits plan summary documents and other media for communicating plans to employees. Arranges and conducts employee information sessions for benefits enrollment;
  • Regularly audits and maintains metrics to ensure benefits programs are consistent and compliant;
  • Oversees college-wide benefits programs and processes such as:
    • Employee requests/eligibility for leave absences such as Family Medical Leave Act;
    • Attendance and leave processing;
    • Employee accessibility and work place accommodations;
    • Benefit processing;
    • Voluntary and non-voluntary offerings;
  • Responsible for auditing and reporting to leadership the financial status of the College’s self-insured medical and dental plans;
  • Plans, organizes and communicates Annual Benefits Open Enrollment;
  • Ensures College compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements of federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies;
  • Handles benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure accurate, equitable, and courteous resolutions. Maintains contact with insurance companies, employees, and beneficiaries;
  • Supervises maintenance of enrollment and claims records for all benefits plans;
  • Coordinates with IT department for all technology aspects of the benefits programs;
  • Reviews monthly health and pharmacy claims analysis and reports to leadership;
  • Directs Wellness Coordinator and Wellness budget to facilitate college-wide Wellness Program;
  • Participates in the resolution of employee relations issues related to FMLA, other leave options, accommodations and other benefits-related concerns;
  • Monitors and oversees corrections of data errors for benefits-related items;
  • Works collaboratively with HR team as well as colleagues throughout the college;
  • Manages communication methods, develops and conducts workshops, trainings and presentations on HR-related matters as needed;
  • Keeps abreast of regulatory trends and identifies their impact and manages this information through the organization;
  • Travels to different college sites as necessary; this position provides special guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans;
  • Responsible for maintaining proper Benefits department records, including auditing of files;
  • Ensures best-in-class customer service to our current, future and past employees;
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects benefits operations by keeping information confidential.
Compensation: $61,937.62 - $92,906.43

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field to assigned area. Valid Human Resources professional certification preferred.

Experience:

Seven (7) years human resource experience, specifically related to benefits administration in a large corporation (over 1,000 employees), in a higher education setting and/or in the health care insurance industry as an agent, broker or client relations expert.  Three years working with a self-insured organization preferred.  Two years supervision of personnel required.
