Grant Associate [ID: 974]
Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Grants Development, the Grant Associate will be responsible for departmental support including both pre- and post-award activities led by the Grant Writer and Grant Management Specialist.  The position will conduct a variety of grant related tasks including prospect research and proposal development and submission to various funders including foundations, corporations, and government agencies (local, state and federal).  Writing activities will also include the development of letters of support, press releases and grant impact statements. This staff member will also be responsible for managing a portfolio of grants during the implementation phase to assist grant project managers with the implementation of post-award activities, including helping overcome challenges, sharing best practices, supporting modifications and coordinating activities between internal departments such as Grants Accounting, Legal Counsel, Purchasing and Human Resources.  Other activities will include supporting the development and delivery of grants training sessions, workshops, and mentoring experiences for faculty and staff as professional development opportunities.

The position requires experience in writing (grants, press releases, technical, publications, etc.), project/program management and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Typical Essential Duties:

  • Conduct grant research to identify possible opportunities and industry trends
  • Support proposal development process including data collection, identification of best practices, creating opportunity summaries and letters of support, etc. 
  • Lead the development and writing of smaller grants (< $50,000), awards/nominations, sections of larger grant proposals, etc.
  • Manage a portfolio of assigned grants to ensure compliance with grant or contract requirements and on-time achievement of deliverables.
  • Ensures the successful transition of grants from the time of award to closeout, while working collaboratively with various areas and departments within the College
  • Support the announcement and close-out of grant awards including, but not limited to, creating press releases, grant impact statements, close-out summaries, etc.
  • Support the development and delivery of trainings for grant writing and grant management for faculty, staff, PIs, grant managers, etc.
  • Assist with the development of grant related processes, policies and procedures
  • Performs related duties as required
Compensation: $43,247.95 - $60,547.13

Requirements:

Education:

Associate’s degree.  Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

Three (3) years of related experience.  Professional experience in grants, program development, professional writing and/or program management preferred.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motion.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
