EEX 3012  Nature and Needs of Exceptional Students K-12 credits: 3

This survey course uses common characteristics of students with exceptionalities to assist the teacher candidate with the implementation of teaching strategies within the framework of Universal Design for Learning, accommodations and/or modifications in the classroom. Course topics are placed in the historic and legal contexts of disability advocacy, including Multi-tiered Systems of Support initiatives. (Note: This course includes a minimum of 10 school-based hours of experience with students with exceptionalities.)
