This course is an introduction to the essential principles relevant to the earth sciences. Contemporary issues are applied to topics in earth science and include the process of science, fundamental understanding of how the earth sciences are expressions of chemistry and physics, and the economic, environmental, and social impacts related to earth materials and processes. This course is taught in a "C" format with 2 hours of lecture and 1 hour of lab. (Note: Credit is not given for both ESC 1000C and ESC 1000/L).
