“It is not so much their subjects that the great teachers teach, as it is themselves.” -Frederick Buechner

“None of us is as smart as all of us” -Ken Blanchard

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Applied Ethics Institute at St. Petersburg College.  I joined this group, first as an Adjunct Faculty in January 2019, and then as a member of the full-time Faculty in August 2019.  My primary instructional focus is the Introduction to Applied Ethics course, one I have taught with both a general content focus and a biomedical ethics focus.

I received a BA in Music from Bethany College (WV), a MA in Religious Studies/Ethics from John Carroll University (OH), a MA in Biomedical Ethics from Case Western Reserve University (OH), and an Ed.D. in Interdisciplinary Leadrship from Creighton University (NE), with my dissertation focused on issues in leadership at the intersection of the public and private sectors.

My professional background includes time spent in vocational ministry as well as healthcare ethics in the academic, public, and private/nonprofit sectors, with a focus on ethics and leadership within the area of healthcare and medical research.  I love sharing my experience and expertise, but also make it a priority (and really enjoy) tapping into the experiences and expertise of my students...in creating an environment that fosters a collective intelligence informed by diverse persepctives.  I think learning is exciting and fun.  Not sold on that idea just yet?  I'm up for the challenge.  Join me in class and see if I can change your mind.

I am married to Dr. Melissa Abercrombie, and we have four children, as well as a variety of interests and hobbies (music--listening and creating, reading, writing, cooking/grilling, travelling, swimming, bike riding...really, the list could go on and on).

Have any questions or want to bounce an idea off me...reach out to me via phone or email.  We'll figure out a way/time to connect!
