It's been my pleasure and an honor to be a part of the Communications Department at St. Petersburg College since 1992.   I received a B.A. in English from Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina, and a M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from South Carolina State University.  Prior to joining the SPC faculty, I was a speech-language pathologist in the Pinellas County School District.  In addition to teaching the basic speech course for the college, I also teach Interpersonal Communication.

My philosophy of education is based on the belief that education is a basic human right.  The society that fails to educate its people undermines its own progress and security in what should be an ever advancing world civilization.  In one holy text it is written, "Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value.  Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom."  This view undergirds my belief that the educator should act as a facilitator of growth and discovery in a cooperative process that enables the realization of the potential that lies latent in each student.

My interests include spending time with my family, personal spiritual growth, writing songs based on social and spiritual concepts, playing guitar, cycling on the trails of Florida, and the amazing sport of racquetball.
