LaPorsha Crumbs
LaPorsha is an alumna of St. Petersburg College in which she received her Associate of Science Degree in Nursing in 2012 and Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing in 2014. In October 2019, she earned her Masters of Science Degree in Nursing from Grand Canyon University.
Her career in healthcare began as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide here in Pinellas County over 10 years ago in which she has worked in various settings. After transitioning from being a CNA to becoming an RN, she worked in various aspects of orthopedic surgery, general medical- surgical nursing, specialty surgery including The Barnett Continent Intestinal Reservoir (BCIR) and bariatric surgeries.
She has a strong background in case management, home healthcare, progressive care, intermediate care, clinical competencies, and critical care nursing with a focus on neuroscience. She is a Daisy Award Winner, which recognizes extraordinary nurses.
Her belief is that every healthcare worker providing direct and indirect care provide the BEST possible care to patients, and fellow coworkers. Laporsha also volunteers with organizations within the community in an effort to promote health and provide health screenings.
As an instructor she assist students with learning development, identify learning styles unique to the learner, critical thinking, skill development, understanding the nursing process, how to implement the nursing process and more.
LaPorsha is a 3rd Generation Nurse. Her father Onnie is a Registered Nurse; and her grandmother Catherine Crumbs MSN, RN is a SPC 2014 Professor Emeritus recipient.
