My career in healthcare began in 1997 while working as an administrative assistant to a psychiatry division chief at an acute care hospital in New York City.  In 2006, after leaving NYC to Florida, I landed a job in the medical records department again as an administrative assistant, at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida.  During the year 2010, the facility was transitioning to an electronic environment for medical records post-discharge.  Instead of losing my job and in the midst of all the changes, I decided I was going to become the Health Information Management Director.   Therefore, to be able to become certified as a Registered Health Information Technologist, I had to have been in a certified HIM program.  Even though I had earned my Bachelor of Science degree since 1996, I found myself enrolled in the HIM program at St. Petersburg College, I earned the additional Associates Degree in HIM, passed the RHIT exam, and convinced my then CFO to hire me as the Director.  The rest is history.  I have been the Director of HIM at Oak Hill Hospital since 2010.  In 2018 I completed my MBA. In August 2020, I earned the RHIA certification. 

I am married to my junior high school sweetheart with three beautiful children. A twenty year old in college, and twins, ages sixteen in high school. For fun and relaxation, when time permits, I love to take pictures of sunsets/sunrise and love to be around the water/the beach, a love for cooking, and I enjoy extending positive quotes to everyone.  

I personally like the education field, not only continued learning for myself, but continuing mentorship to my own children, my staff, and co-workers of multi-disciplinary team for their continued education.  When we elevate our standards and thinking, we elevate the world we live in, not just for ourselves, but for those we live among.  

My hope is to elevate all my students to their highest possible level.
