Mike earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Utah (specializing in Philosophy of Race), an M.A. from San Francisco State University, and a B.A. from New Mexico State University. His primary philosophical interests include Philosophy of Science (especially Philosophy of Biology and Cognitive Science), Philosophy of Language, Modern Philosophy and American Pragmatism. He has also dabbled in Stoicism, Asian Philosophy and Islamic Philosophy.

He began teaching in 2004 and has been teaching at SPC since 2020. He resides in Reno, NV and enjoys the mountains. Mike played college baseball (very poorly) at both New Mexico State Univesity and Barton County Community College. He still enjoys sports and roots for the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants.

His primary interest, however, is spending time with his best buddy "Hunter Pence", an American Bulldog/Pit mix he adopted in 2015.
