Background:
Completed a Doctorate in Business Administration after an M.B.A. in Management Information Systems and a B.A. in Social Science.  As students will learn in Operations Management, the production of goods and services can be found in almost any industry. After retiring with 38 years in Telecommunications, the concepts explored in this course were applied professionally throughout my career, which expanded a number of organizations such as Customer Service, Engineering, and Operations Management.  The principles of Operations Management helped me to manage an organization with multiple offices located across five states. This course is intended to present a state-of-the-art view of operations management and how the principles can be applied to any organization whether it is a local coffee shop or a multinational corporation. In addition, after completing this course you will have a better understanding of what takes place behind the scenes through Operations Management whether you attend a concert, walk into a restaurant, or enter a hospital for medical attention.

Teaching Philosophy:
I am a big advocate for online learning. After completing a three-year online Doctorate degree, managing a full-time job while trying to complete a degree was achieved in part due to the flexibility that online learning provided. Online learning is comprised of discussion forums, articles, videos, and educational information made to provide students with a sense of community and a feeling of investment toward their efforts. It is convenient and gives students an opportunity to plan their study time to help balance work and family commitments. Online learning for this course requires self-discipline and typically an average of 15-18 hours per week minimum to complete the coursework successfully. In this course you will find over one hundred recorded tutorials to support the chapter lessons. After many years of applying Operations Management principles in my professional life, I am excited to be able to share my knowledge and help each student understand the role of operations in an organization.
