Robin Jo Bower-Miller has been a College Instructor for over 39 years and has been teaching full time at SPC for 36 years. She teaches Speaking for Professionals, and an Introduction to Speech Communication, She has also taught an Introduction to Communication, Organizational Communication, College Success Skills, and an Oral Interpretation of Literature. She has been a member of the Southern States Communication Association were she served as Chair of the Community College Division and Secretary. She has been a member of the National Communication Association and presented panels at the 2000, and 2001 National Conferences. Robin is Past Faculty Senate President (Fall 2021), Past President or the -Clearwater Faculty Governance Organization (1994-1996) and was a FGO Senate member from 1991-1996, and 2004-2006, representing the Clearwater Campus. Robin was also Clearwater Campus advisor to the Tau Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society of Two Year Colleges. In 1994 she was included in Who's Who of American Teachers. Robin has served as a coach and judge for the SPC Great Debate. She enjoys hiking, travel, sports, and brewing beer. She is an award winning photographer. Her M.A. in Speech Communication is from the University of Maryland, and her B.S. in Speech Communication is from Towson University, also in Maryland. Prior to teaching full time at SPC she taught Communication courses at the American University in Washington D. C., University of Baltimore, and Towson University. In addition to teaching she has served as a communication consultant for the U.S. Department of Defense, Westinghouse, and Stetson University of Law.
