I have been with SPC since 2012 and teach in both the lower and upper division biology classes. In lower division, I teach Bio 1 & 2, Bio 1 Honors, and Non-majors biology courses. In the baccalaureate program I teach Ecology, Botany, Theory and Practice, Ethnobotany, Garden Ecology, Food Science and I also serve as advisor for Undergraduate Research and multiple internships at Moccasin Lake Nature Park. I am also the faculty advisor for Tri Beta National Biological Honor society.
I hold a bachelor's degree in biology from Creighton University, a master's degree in botany from the University of Hawaii, and a PhD in ecology, evolution, and conservation biology from the University of Nevada, Reno. I am a plant ecologist by training and I enjoy spending time outside hiking, gardening, and botanizing (much to my children's dismay...). Despite my botanical background, I have had the opportunity to conduct research in a variety of science disciplines.
