Linda Johnson received her Certificate in Dental Hygiene in 1976 and a BS in Dental Hygiene in 1977 from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia. She then received her Masters in Science from Old Dominion in Dental Hygiene in 1981. Her master's thesis was a two-year study examining the influence of the dental hygiene curriculum on student's creativity in 3 different types of educational settings. From 1981 to 1982 she taught part time in the dental hygiene department at Old Dominion. She has worked as a dental hygienist in private practice offices from 1976 to 1996 in the states of Virginia, Ohio and Florida. In January, 1985 she started working part time as a dental hygiene clinical instructor in the St. Petersburg Junior College Dental Hygiene Program. In 1987 she began teaching the Oral Histology and Embryology course and a few years later starting teaching the Periodontics course, DH IV -expanded functions course and the Orofacial Anatomy lecture and laboratory courses. Since 1997 she has been a full time instructor and spent a year as the Clinical Director.   She had been teachingOral Histology and Embryology, Periodontics II, Advanced Periodontics, Preclinic lecture and laboratory courses, the Board Review course, Radiology lab and was also a clinical instructor. until she went to an adjunct status in May of 2016.   Since then she has still been teaching the Oral Histology course for the AS program  and some linical courses.  She also continues to teach the Advances perio course in the BAS program along other courses.  Since May 2013 she has been a a Dental Hygiene National Board Exam Committee member for the DH I part of the exam.  In February 2013, she became certified in local anesthesia and has been teaching local CE courses since then to practicing dental hygienists and her current students.

Linda Johnson has been active in her local dental hygiene association and has served as a delegate and treasurer in the past and on several committees.  Her personal hobbies include traveling to other countries whenever she can and she also loves to do gardening and various arts and crafts including tole painting.  She is married with 2 grown children with one who lives near by. and one who lives in Portland, Oregon.
