I grew up in the suburbs of Kansas City.  Before coming to SPC I worked as a Research Scientist at the University of New Hampshire.  I am a Co-Investigator on the Plasma and Supra-Thermal Ion Composition experiment aboard NASA's Solar-Terrestrial Relations Observatory (http://stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov/).  This experiment collects samples of the plasma (ionized gas) that is continuously flowing from the Sun into interplanetary space.  By analyzing this material we can better understand our nearest star and how it interacts with planets, especially the Earth.
