My name is Dr. Gerald Z. Slaughter.

I am Adjunct Faculty in the SPC Communications Department (Speech Communication) and in the SPC College of Business (Business Communication). I also am a Senior Security Officer for SPC at the Downtown Center campus.

I have taught Communication Studies (Introduction to Speech Communication, Public Speaking, Business and Professional Communication, Interviewing, Organizational Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Public Relations, Small Group Communication, Communication Training and Development and several other courses in the communication discipline) for the past 39 years.

In my early years, my research in Organizational Communication and Public Relations was recognized at regional, national, and international levels by some of the top scholars in the communication discipline. In my later years, I have been focusing on teaching college students to become more competent and effective communicators by improving basic communication skills in personal and public relationships.

In addition, I am a dedicated and motivated professional with a strong background in Communication and Organizational Development. I have many years of successful experience developing and administering effective communication training programs while ensuring overall performance and productivity through innovative teaching, training, and consulting strategies. I am able to build and maintain working relationships with diverse groups of employees, clients and colleagues and students in academic, corporate, and non-profit settings.
