My name is Sandra J. Gonterman-Spagnolo.  I was born in Evansville, Indiana.  I have a brother in Indiana and a sister in Phoenix, Arizona (who is an RN as well).  I had the best parents ever who were educators!  I was educated in the public school.  I was into athletics (track and cheerleading/gymnastics).  In high school, I went to Mexico to live summers with a local family and study Spanish.  I became fluent at that time. When I went to college at University of New Mexico, I studied Spanish and Portuguese, as well as Biblical studies at a Christian college.  Nursing became an interest as well so I pursued a Bachelors of Science.

My husband and I married and had 3 daughters.  2 are now grown, the first being a Dental Hygenist in Indiana and the second, a Pharmacist in Indiana.  I received a Masters in Nursing as well as a NP and CNS in Women's Health practicing at a Women's hospital and OB-GYN in Indiana.  I have been an adjunct nursing instructor part-time for several years since 2006.

I opened a Gold's Gym and am still a ardent fitness buff, including boxing.  I began MADD in my hometown in Indiana and ran that for many years having lost our first daughter and spouse to a drunk driver.

I enjoy teaching and encouraging students in the field of nursing.  The profession is a giving and caring one, as well as one requiring much critical thinking and decision making.  Nursing school is very hard and each of you need support and direction.  That is my job!

My husband and I moved to Florida in 2009 and I began working at Morton Plant in L&D and teaching at Utica/SPC and University of Tampa.  I love Med Surg and Maternity nursing and continue to learn more and more myself!

I look forward to getting to know each of you!  Never hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns or thoughts!
